During The Nature Conservancy's (TNC) 2025 Conservation Summit, one of the world's leading conservation organizations, with over 80 years of global experience and more than 30 years of work in the Dominican Republic, the addition of Adriana Cisneros to its board of directors for the Caribbean region was announced.
With this designation, TNC reaffirms the importance of including the business sector in building comprehensive and sustainable solutions that involve key players in protecting natural resources and combating the effects of climate change.
Adriana Cisneros, CEO of Cisneros, is deeply committed to sustainability, innovation, and the development of the Miches community. Her appointment to the TNC Board of Directors represents a commitment to a modern business vision, with strong regional roots and sensitivity to the environmental challenges facing the hemisphere.
This announcement comes amid growing international awareness of the fragility of marine and coastal ecosystems, particularly in island regions like the Caribbean. Problems such as the advance of sargassum seaweed, rising sea levels, reef degradation, and overfishing threaten not only biodiversity but also economic pillars like tourism and fishing. Faced with this reality, the Dominican Republic must take an active role.
“Adriana is a great addition to the TNC Caribbean board because of her strong commitment to conservation. She understands the value of natural resources to the tourism industry and will represent TNC to the business sector in the Dominican Republic. Both she and the entire Tropicalia team represent important support for the organization,” said Francisco Núñez, director of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) Central Caribbean Program.
William R. Phelan, Maike Friedrichsen, José Elías González, Frank Rainieri, Adriana Cisneros, Rob Brumbaugh and Sofia Perazzo.
Cisneros called on the entire business sector to work together to build sustainable development, to move forward without compromising the resources that sustain us. “Today more than ever, the future of our region and the planet depends on the courage to act with vision and urgency. I am committed to working from the TNC Board to join forces, inspire real change, and ensure that future generations inherit a world where nature and communities thrive together. The time to act is now, and together we can make a difference.”
The Nature Conservancy's (TNC) Conservation Summit 2025 brought together leading business figures, key stakeholders from various sectors, and conservation experts to discuss the strategies needed to meet the 2030 conservation commitments, with access to financing for sustainable projects being one of the most important points.
