Tropicalia: The new standard for sustainable luxury resorts
Cisneros Real Estate develops strategic, innovative and responsible real estate and tourism projects around the world. Headquarted in Miami, Florida, the division’s long view development portfolio is built upon relationships with partners that share similar values and integrating the needs and interests of the local communities and environments we impact.
The division’s largest project to date is Tropicalia, a master-planned resort development encompassing 6,000 acres (2,400 ha) of land along the southern coastline of the Samaná Bay in the Dominican Republic. With a long-term vision and an emphasis on harmony with nature, Tropicalia will be an emblem of sustainable luxury tourism throughout the world. Tropicalia’s first hotel will be an Isay Weinfeld designed Four Seasons and accompanied by a Tom Doak golf course.
The project is an important economic catalyst for the Dominican Republic, which welcomes more than five million visitors each year and is set on creating a new benchmark for tourism. In response to the project’s holistic approach to development Tropicalia established its foundation, Fundación Tropicalia (www.fundaciontropicalia.com) in 2008 to design and implement programs for the project’s neighboring communities in the areas of education, environment, productivity, and wellbeing and culture. The foundation’s goal, together with the local community, is to be drivers of sustainable and socioeconomic development in the region.
In addition to Tropicalia, Cisneros Real Estate is focused on developing other real estate and tourism projects, in strategic locations throughout the world with other high-end global brands.
