(Santo Domingo, March 3rd, 2010)--The Tropicalia tourism project, which the Cisneros Group of Companies affirms is ecologically responsible, luxurious, low density and sustainable, hosted a gathering in the Miches City council, to evaluate its environmental impact.
After several months of studies, specialists in botany, hydrology, sociology, geology, fauna, archaeology, laws, and on impacts, among others drafted the report, which stresses the protection of the environment and the integration of adjacent communities. "It has been determined that Tropicalia's project is a hotel and real estate development with a low to very low environmental impact on the nature in the area."
"The project’s design has been adapted to harness the area’s natural beauty and aims to improve the standard of living of bordering populations and reduce the possible negative impacts on the zone,” said Tropicalia vice president and general manager William R. Phelan, in a statement.
He said among Tropicalia’s main guidelines are the development of sustainable tourism which protects the environment, integrating the communities to the project’s growth, and guarantee the access to jobs for the local manpower.
