Miami, FL (USA) January 12, 2010 – Venevision International, a global entertainment company of the Cisneros Group of Companies, will shine at NATPE ’10 with an ample proposal of celebrated telenovelas and teen series, such as “Salvador de mujeres” [Salvador: A Knockout Lover], “Tomasa Tequiero” [Millionaire Maid], and “Corazones extremos” [Extreme Hearts], all of which will be presented for the first time.
“It’s the most complete and varied proposal we have taken to NATPE,” assured Cesar Diaz, Vice President of Sales for Venevision International, “since it contains more than a dozen telenovelas and a diversity of teen series that are very attractive and have a mass appeal. We are confident that we have, without a doubt, the ideal product for our clientele.”

NATPE, the conference for companies and professionals of the content distribution industry, takes place from January 25th to the 27th at the Mandalay Bay Resort in the magical city of Las Vegas, Nevada (USA). Venevision International will be located at Suite 7916 of THEhotel of the Mandalay Bay Resort.
Headlining Venevision International proposal is the telenovela “Salvador de mujeres” [Salvador: A Knockout Lover] (120x45’), starring Rudy Rodriguez, Carlos Guillermo Haydon, and Alejandra Sandoval. Produced by Venevision International Productions and carried out by Televideo, the novela is currently being taped among Colombia’s beautiful scenery. Salvado (Carlos), a boxer who unjustly loses his boxing license, is forced to work as a female escort. It’s a story full of soul, passion, and romance in its purest form. All women, among the telenovela’s cast and the television audience, won’t be able to resist being saved by ”Salvador: A Knockout Lover.”
At the forefront of the proposal is the novela “Tomasa Tequiero” [Millionaire Maid] (120X45’), which has obtained much success in Venezuela, its country of origin. Produced by Venevision, this telenovela stars Gledys Ibarra and Carlos Montilla in the leading roles.
Loving, efficient and passionately loyal, Tomasa (Gledys) decides to remain working as a maid for the Paredes family, even after becoming a millionaire overnight. Consequently, she discovers that she is really indispensable, and how far people will go when driven by greed
Based on the original story written by the distinguished Mexican author Veronica Suarez, “Pecadora” [Sinner] (120x45’) showcases a cast of outstanding actors and actresses of international fame, starring two of Mexico’s most beloved acting and singing stars: the beautiful Litzy Dominguez and heartthrob Eduardo Capetillo. “Pecadora” is a love story, full of conflicts, passion and heartbreak, in which the main characters, Luz Maria (Litzy) and Bruno (Eduardo), confront difficult trials and tribulations that are brought on by the deception and trickery of those closest to them. Luz Maria attempts to continue deceiving her love and her younger sister to make sure they don’t find out that she is not a psychologist, when she is actuality a nightclub dancer. On his part, he lives pressed by his mother, who blames him for the death of his twin brother who they believe died in a motorcycle accident. Will the love between Bruno and Luz Maria endure all these obstacles?
On the other hand, “Un esposo para Estela” [A Husband for Estela] (120x45’), starring Daniela Alvarado and Luis Geronimo Abreu, relives the story of Estela Morales (Daniela), a young woman who needs a husband in order to collect an inheritance left by her mother with which she hopes to save “El Vendaval,” the family hacienda that is in ruins and heavily in debt; and with that purpose she places an advertisement in the local newspaper. Adriano Alberti (Luis), heir to an international hotel chain, is among the many candidates who arrive from all over the country. Of all the suitors, Adriano is the only one who knows her. Or who has met her. A month prior, they were both on the island of Curacao. She wanted to die; he wanted to forget. But for just one night, those two lonely souls made themselves believe they were happy. The following day, the woman disappeared without a trace. And Adriano discovered a family heirloom, a priceless necklace, was missing from the safe. Adriano said he came to “El Vendaval’ to recover the jewelry he believed to be in Estela’s possession. But in reality, he wants to prove the innocence of the woman he believes to be his true love.
“Somos tu y yo: Un Nuevo dia” [You and Me: A New Day] (80x45’) is an example of the organization’s versatility as the teen series evolved in its third season with its revival of the golden era of the late 50s, with more music and original songs interpreted by a cast of young stars, among them Victor, Sheryl, Rosmery, Aran, Hendrick, Oriana, Jorge and Kelly, as well as others that have given new life to this successful series – all sporting the ‘look’ of the era. Supporting the series is a 360° campaign with the sole purpose of maximizing the reach and the effectiveness of its dissemination, and consequently promote, not only the series, but also increase traffic to the official website, and market the sale of products associated to the series, such as merchandise, ringtones, games, music, etc.
Another teen series among the proposal is “Corazones extremos” [Extreme Hearts] (80x45’), which will be presented at NATPE for the first time. Starring Ismael Montes and Elizabeth Capeleti, this production involves two feuding families that are forced to change their ways when their teenage children fall in love with each other. Reminiscent of the classic ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ this contemporary story takes place against the backdrop of extreme sports, targeting a young-adult audience.
As to be expected, Venevision International’s proposal for NATPE ‘10 also contains successful international telenovelas, such as “Los misterios del amor” [Mysteries of Love] (120x45’), with Sabrina Seara and Juan Carlos Garcia, a gripping medical drama that unfolds in a metropolitan hospital, where love blooms in mysterious ways; and “Alma indomable” [Untamed Soul] (165x45’), with Scarlet Ortiz and Jose Angel Llamas, presents the story of a beautiful woman who is poor, wild, and uneducated . . . but life is full of surprises as she becomes a supermodel and discovers her true parentage.
The list of successful telenovelas continues with “La vida entera,” [For A Lifetime] (133x45’), with Anastasia Mazzone and Jorge Reyes, the story of a brilliant communications student and a famous journalist who become involved as she writes a thesis on his career - a fresh and original story set in a glamorous women’s magazine; and “Condesa por amor” [An Unlikely Countess] (100x45’), with Aileen Abad and Geronimo Gil, depicts the story of a young and simple working girl who is mistaken for a mysterious countess by a snobbish socialite; she’s willing to play along if that’s what it will take to win his love — but is she ready to face the consequences of this dangerous charade?
In addition, the following novelas that have achieved international success will be presented: “¿Vieja yo?” [Never Too Late] (122x45’/Mimi Lazo and Adrian Delgado), an intriguing novela about a vibrant woman in her fifties who discovers it’s not too late to find happiness . . . but she must break away from the past and dare to live life to its fullest; “Valeria” [Valeria] (174x45’/Alejandra Lazcano, Jorge Reyes, Carolina Tejera, and Carlos Caballero), the story of a young woman who has found the man of her dreams, but a violent incident from her past comes back to haunt her; and now even her greatest love falls victim to her revenge; “Torrente” [Torrent of Passions] (130x45’/Maritza Bustamante and Luciano D’Alessandro), the tale of two women who are best friends until love and motherhood gets in the way of their relationship; “Pobre millonaria” [Poor Millionaire] (97x45’/Gianella Neyra, Jorge Aravena, Roxana Diaz and Eduardo Serrano), an intriguing telenovela about the love and defiance of a young and beautiful heiress – produced in the lush tropical setting of the Panama Canal; and “Amor comprado” [Love Contract] (123x45’/Elizabeth Gutierrez and Jose Angel Llamas), the story of a young woman who needs money to take care of her family; he needs to get married in order to receive an inheritance - the result is a star-crossed love that alters their fates forever.
The VVI presentation could not be without youth-oriented programming, which includes the first two seasons of the teenage musical series “Somos tu y yo” [You And Me] (83/91x45’/Sheryl Rubio and Victor Drija); “Que clase de amor!” [The High School Nerd] (81x45’/Aisha Stambouli, Andres Gomez, Mayela Caldera and Joan Manuel Larrad), a teen sereis that depicts the daily tensions, dilemmas and situations that exist between two groups of high school students: the nerds and the popular gang; in addition to a variety of series and movies from the U.S. production house Dolphin Entertainment, originally produced for Nickelodeon, but are now available for Latin America: “Zoey 101,” “The Last Days of Summer,” “Shrederman Rules,” “Roxy Hunter,” and “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.”
The proposal also includes musical series, comedies, talk shows, and a series of attractive documentaries, as well as a variety of innovative television programs, such as “Necesito una amiga” [I Need A Friend] (120x45’), a talk show that is also a dramatic series, now hosted by Gaby Rivero and Mimi Lazo (the first season was hosted by Fabiola Colmenares and Alejandra Maldonado;173x45’); Programación Premium de Mega-TV [Premium Programming from Superstation Mega TV], original entertainment programs (talk shows, news magazines, series, etc.) from the innovative U.S.-based Hispanic superstation Mega-TV; and finally a collection of attractive documentaries, the “Serie platino de documentales” [Platinum Documentary Series], which includes “China through the Yangtze River,” Guests of War,” “Children of Cauca,” “Musical Expedition,” “Andy’s Travels,” among others.
