MIAMI--Thanksgiving is a special celebration in the United States, it is a day when families gather with their loved ones and share a special dinner in commemoration of the first pilgrims, who after facing much hardship upon their arrival on American soil, survived thanks to the generosity of the native population.
Yet today, many families lack the necessary resources to enjoy a traditional dinner on that day. In an effort to help, a group of volunteers from Venevision International, Venevision Productions and the Cisneros Group´s corporate offices in Miami collected and distributed boxes of food for twenty families of low-income adolescents who attend the Marine Institute of Miami Dade County. The Marine Institute, a rehabilitation center, teaches adolescents values that help them become better citizens. This food collection, organized by the Human Resources Division of Venevision International, exceeded expectations and benefited more families than originally anticipated.
This Thanksgiving Day of food collection and distribution was part of the Cisneros Group’s Volunteer Social Responsibility Program in conjunction with United Way. The program aims to raise awareness among Cisneros Group employees and encourage teamwork towards the common objective of contributing to the needs of Miami-Dade County
