(Caracas, April 12, 2010) – The Leones del Caracas took part this past Saturday in the special activity to recover the baseball field facilities of La Ciudadela with the purpose of marking the start of the baseball workshops beginning Monday. They will receive the group of children and adolescent students of Santa Cruz del Este participating in the municipal program "Todos Pueden."
"We're very pleased with the completion of this activity, it is the result of a joint effort in which we worked for months with all institutions involved," said Maria Ignacia Arcaya, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility of the Cisneros Group. "Our goal is to keep getting spaces that, through such partnerships, benefit our communities," concluded Arcaya.
Gerardo Blyde, Mayor of Baruta, expressed his satisfaction at the start of these baseball workshops that, in partnership with UNICEF, will foster the integral development of children and adolescents. "We participated in this joint effort with the firm belief that sports, and specifically, working in teams like baseball can encourage healthy competition so that many children do not choose the wrong path in our harsh neighborhoods" he said.
During the event on Saturday, workshop participants enjoyed recreational activities and spent time with the Leones del Caracas team mascot. Meanwhile, their parents and representatives collaborated in maintenance work along with personnel from Infrastructure, Green Area and Sports of the Mayor, the Criollitos Corporation of Venezuela, the Community Youth Foundation and Marelisa Gibson, Miss Venezuela 2009.
