Miami, Florida (USA) December 7, 2009 - On his six-city sold-out ‘My Christmas’ tour through the United States and Canada, Andrea Bocelli once again delighted audiences this past weekend with unforgettable performances in Toronto and New Jersey.
On Thursday, at a sold out Air Canada Center, thousands enjoyed the best Andrea Bocelli had to offer, complemented by Canada’s own David Foster, who accompanied the Italian tenor on the piano.
Saturday was yet another memorable night, this time at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where Andrea was joined on stage by R&B superstar Mary J. Blige. Together, they masterfully performed what is surely to become a modern-day Christmas classic, “What Child Is This?,” which is included on the album “MY CHRISTMAS / MI NAVIDAD.” Other highlights of the night were the duets Andrea performed with Katherine McPhee, as they interpreted the Elvis classic “Blue Christmas,” as well as “The Prayer.”
“MY CHRISTMAS/MI NAVIDAD” is the first Christmas recording by Andrea Bocelli, and it is fast becoming the must-have album of the season. Since its release over a month ago, it has been among the Top 3 of Billboard’s Top 200 Albums, plus it is currently the top selling album in iTunes U.S. It’s Spanish-language counterpart, titled “MI NAVIDAD” also debuted at the top of the U.S. Latin sales charts, including No.1 on the Latin Pop Albums sub-chart. In Latin America, it is among the best selling albums (Top 20) and it’s the No.3 selling album in iTunes Mexico. The album is also heating up the European charts: No.2 in Finland and Top 20 in Holland, Hungary, UK and Austria.
This week, Andrea Bocelli wraps up his North American tour with shows in the California cities of Anaheim and Fresno, and finally in the magical city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
