Caracas, August 24, 2010 - The Miss Venezuela Organization and the Cisneros Group of Companies congratulate Marelisa Gibson, Miss Venezuela 2009, for her outstanding participation in the 2010 Miss Universe® Pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she demonstrated her charisma, personal talent and good training.
Upon joining the Miss Venezuela pageant, Osmel Sousa believed Marelisa’s great personal qualities and a style all her own made her an ideal candidate. She enthusiastically committed to her duties as a beauty queen, being trained as a volunteer in the Corporate Social Responsibility activities of the Leones del Caracas, the Cisneros Group’s professional baseball team.
During the pageant, Jimena Navarrete, the representative from Mexico, selected from 83 young women from around the world, was crowned by Stefania Fernandez, Miss Universe® 2009. Prior to the closing ceremony, Stefania, who won Venezuela’s sixth Miss Universe® title, said goodbye to the grandest universal beauty pageant, and expressed her gratitude for the wonderful experiences during her reign, and the confidence the Miss Universe® Organization had in her. Waving the national flag, she remembered her beloved country, Venezuela.
Last year, Dayana Mendoza, Miss Universe® 2008, and Stefania Fernandez, Miss Universe® 2009, achieved a Guinness World Record for Venezuela, which became the first country in history to obtain the Miss Universe® title for two consecutive years.
