(Miami, January 10th, 2010)—A sacrifice fly by Wilson Ramos in the eighth inning broke a three-run tie and allowed the Leones del Caracas to defeat the Aguilas del Zulia 4-3 in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball post season.
Ramos hit a single to deep center field, which allowed Jose Lopez to score a run. In that eighth inning, Leones scored two runs to take the lead and head towards victory.
Ramos finished the game 1 for 3, with two RBI’s.
The victory went to the Leones´ reliever, Orber Moreno (2-0), with one inning worked. Juan Carlos Gutiérrez is credited with a save (3).
With the victory, Leones finished the post season with six victories and four defeats, which placed them a half game behind the leading Navegantes del Magallanes.
Romulo Sanchez was credited with the loss (0-3).
In Margarita, the Tiburones de La Guaira defeated the Bravos 5-3 with outstanding offensive performances by Oscar Salazar and Cesar Suarez.
A three run homer by Salazar in the top of the fifth inning opened the way to victory for the Tiburones.
Salazar finished the game 1 for 2, with a homer (2), three RBIs and a run scored.
For his part, Suarez was perfect with his offense, by going 4-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
The win was credited to Enrique Gonzalez (2-0) in five innings of work, in which he allowed one run. Francisco
Rodríguez was credited with the save (3).
Félix Villegas was credited with the loss (1-1).
