(Miami, Jnauary 17th, 2012)--Venevision International will include in its bid to MIPCOM the documentary 'El Asesinato de Galan', a coproduction of The History Channel, National University of Colombia and MAZDOC Documentaries. 'El Asesinato de Galan' describes how the confrontation with the most powerful cartels in Colombia drug resulted in the death of Luis Carlos Galan, whom during his campaign for President of the Republic was dedicated to fight against corruption and drug trafficking. On August 18th, 1989, a terrorist plot took the life of the Colombian political leader during a demonstration in the main square from Soacha (Cundinamarca).
'El Asesinato de Galan' is a one-hour television documentary, where the research team uses all the available historical material to show for the first time an analysis of the preparation and execution of the crime, using witnesses and ballistics and forensics experts. Through animation and reenactments, viewers will see the facts from the different angles of where the shooting took place and relive the difficult moments spent in trying to save the life of the liberal leader.

Cesar Coletti, director of Marketing for The History Channel Latin America, said the agreements with MAZDOC Documentaries, Citytv, and the National University of Colombia for the co-production of 'El Asesinato de Galan, "which multiplied by eight the audience of the channel during its broadcast" in Colombia, where the documentary debuted last August in commemoration of the 20 years since the tragic death of Luis Carlos Galan.
Mauricio Acosta, Director of the Documentary, said: "Bearing in mind that each story is unique and unrepeatable, and with reference to the relevance that this story represents to the country, MAZDOC Documentaries spared no resources for research and production, in order to show how events occurred from the front of the stage in the Soacha park, guided by two eyewitnesses and a ballistics expert.
