Adriana Cisneros de Griffin is Vice Chairman and Director of Strategy of the Cisneros Group of Companies, one of the largest privately held media, entertainment, telecommunications and consumer products organizations in the world. The Cisneros Group wholly owns or controls companies ranging from broadcast television and television production to consumer products and real estate. The Group sells TV programming and other media content on five continents and in over 90 countries. Its media and entertainment holdings include Venevisión, the leading television network in Venezuela; Venevision International, a global Spanish-language entertainment company; and Venevision Productions, a supplier of top-tier telenovelas for North American and world audiences.
Ms. Cisneros de Griffin is the granddaughter of the Group’s founder, Diego Cisneros, and daughter of the Chairman, Gustavo Cisneros. She works closely with her father in managing operations and in developing strategy for the Group as a whole. As a third-generation leader of the Cisneros Group, she is overseeing its transformation from a pan-regional Latin American enterprise to one increasingly focused on opportunities in the U.S. Hispanic and global markets.
Ms. Cisneros de Griffin is currently the General Manager of Tropicalia, a Cisneros Group real estate project in the Dominican Republic. Tropicalia is a luxury eco-resort, intended to be one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive destinations.
She is also President of the Fundación Cisneros, founded by Gustavo Cisneros and Patricia Phelps de Cisneros to support a range of charitable and humanitarian efforts in Latin America and in Hispanic communities worldwide. The Fundación Cisneros is committed to enriching education in Latin America and to increasing awareness of Latin America’s contributions to world culture. Improving educational infrastructure and implementing the Actualización de Maestros en Educación (AME) teacher-training program are Fundación priorities.
Adriana Cisneros de Griffin is Director of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmy’s), and a member of the International Council and of the Latin American and Caribbean Fund at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She is a member of the Inter-American Culture & Development Foundation, a non-profit initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank. She has served on the board of directors of Aid for AIDS and on the board of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas.
Ms. Cisneros de Griffin received a master’s degree in journalism from New York University in 2005 and a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in 2002.
